alice, interrupted

You’re alice. Scroll to fall through a long winding tunnel of victorian junk, teacups and clocks and a chess set and a marmalade jar, and land at a door to the garden. Anything that glints can be picked up and turned over. The teacups spill.

Alice’s fall in the book takes forever because she reads jar labels, does mental math, gets bored. There is real neuroscience for why a fall can feel that long, and carroll got it more or less right in 1865 without trying. The piece is an excuse to explain that.

Vanilla html, css and js. Three.js off a cdn for the tunnel with a custom motion blur shader, the web audio api for every sound, all of it synthesized. Turn the sound on. It’s half the experience. Best on a laptop.
